The stick just wasn't so sticky!

One of my new year resolutions was to plan my daycare projects in advance!
I have not missed a single day!
Everything has been ready and prepped for when the time came!

well last night I look at my calendar
and do a check in my head to make sure I have all the materials
well nope I do not because of the the flood!
I don't have all my yarn, not much tissue paper, no felt
BUT contact paper YES!
It was on a top shelf!

So I gather all the supplies that made it and have them ready for today!
a BIG piece of contact paper pom poms, a small amount of tissue paper, buttons, sequence, a few pieces of yarn and string and some other small light weight odds and ends!
the kids go to work!!
hang the contact paper on the wall!

set out supplies and let the kids start the decorating process

hmmm where should I put this?

The finished product!

Also not sure if it was because the contact paper has been sitting in a super moist basement or if it was bad contact paper but the items had a hard time staying stuck!!  I am assuming it was because it sat in the basement but who knows! so all day I have been picking up the pieces that are slowing falling off to the ground!!
here one of the kiddos made a face
you can see the eyes, the button ears, the sequence mouth and the yarn for hair!
Too cute!!!

This was a HUGE hit and the kids were busy with this activity for over 30 minutes!  I love when we can get up and moving with our project time!!
I highly recommend this activity with energetic kids! Because there was lots of walking to be done if you stick the supplies on one side of the room and the contact paper on the other!
I leave you with this picture
I was finsihing lunch clean up and walked into our "new" daycare space and found this little dude sitting at the table reading a book (upside down) just smiling away like he was the biggest kid at daycare today!  It just struck me as super funny and I had to get a picture of it!

Happy Monday!!

Here are a few more pics of my daycare space as of today
this is a pic of the back bedroom
and this is a pic of the main daycare area that I use!

The carpet is offically dry and waiting a little longer on the wood!
so we are almost ready to start repairing everything!

Sparkle and Shine!

Since my basement is FAR from being sparkling and shining

This was at 630 am on Thursday January 26th
This was at 12pm today January 27th

Slowly but surly the progress is being made!
We are trying to stay positive!!

Anyways like I said before
Since my basement is far from being sparkly and shinny
we had to do a craft to brighten up my mood
(the kids are THRILLED to be having daycare on my main level!)

So I stole asked my husband for some of his cds that he wasn't using
and we decorated them with gems, and sequence!

look at those big ol brown eyes!  How do you not love her!!
even through the sass, I love her!

working hard!!

Here are a few of the finished products!
the plan will be to string them up somewhere!
we just haven't decided where yet!
Simple, easy, fun and sparkly!!
and who does love a little sparkle in their life!

Happy Weekend to everyone!

I will hopefully be taking daily pics so that I can remember all work we went through and hopefully in the very near future my daycare will look AMAZING!!!

It's a Pizza Party

It's really not a party but the title works!

We did read

If you are a fan of Curious George,
which my kids are
this is a GREAT book!

Curious George gets invited to a pizza party and of course his curiosity gets him into a little bit of trouble!

So we decided to go along with our book we had to make our own pizza,
both real and pretend!!

For our pretend pizzas,
we had
crust, sauce (red paint) pepperonis, sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, and cheese!

We then painted and glued everything together

After we made our pretend pizzas we made real pizza (grilled cheese pizza)

What you need:
2 pieces of bread (one side of each slice buttered)
sauce
cheese
whatever pizza ingredients you desire!

After the pizza then need to be toasted!

and here is the final product!
 the REAL pizza sandwiches
i did cut them out like hearts but its hard to see in the photo!
and the pretend pizza pies!!

Mitten Match up

I made a little ABC learning game using mittens!

I found this printable HERE

I printed one set on patterned paper
and another set on plain white paper

Cut the set out
wrote a letter on each mitten
and laminated them!

here are a few of the letters
I also added a piece of velcro so that they could stick together when the matches were found!
My idea was to hang them on a "clothesline" and then hid the other pieces and the kids would stick them together!
We have not done that yet but hopefully tomorrow!
Today I just laid one set on the table and hid the other set and the kids had to find one letter at a time tell me the letter and find the match and head back for another!

They did a great job and was impressed with the way they are learning their capital letters!

You can do so much with this activity:
-have them match to the lower case letter
(i don't feel like my kids are ready for lower case and that why I did upper case)
-print out pictures to match the letter
ex: A is for Apple
I is for Ice cream
-do numbers instead of letters
(i want to do this one, but I think I am going to make it with snowman instead of mittens)
the list could go on for a long time!!

If you have any other ideas for me please share!!!

Animal Tracks

Its a super simple activity
but the kids ALWAYS love it!!
Because painting with toys is sooo much fun!!

All you need is colored paper
(we used blue)
white paint
(i use paper plates to put the paint onto)
animals!

Here is a pic of the boys growling, making other animal noises, stomping their animals, ect!

Here is one of the finished products
(ok its mine but of course I had to join in on the fun as well!)

We also had a discussion on animal tracks
the kids went on to tell me that they saw tracks in the backyard
I asked them what kind and they told me that they found
monster, snake, people, and rabbits!
(i hope the monster and snake aren't real) :)

I made this little printable so the kids could see some of the different tracks

Today the boys were also busy building a zoo for their animals
so i had to capture a few pictures of the boys and their zoo!
(when I pulled out my camera, one of the kids said,
"oh don't forget to take a picture of me!")

What things do you and your kiddos like to do with animals!
We have a a huge bucket full of animals and they are out and being used
EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!

Snow Much Fun!

Today was a quiet day since we have a few kids out with strep!
SAD!!
These nasty cold/flu bugs are getting around A LOT!!!

NO FUN!!
(but I must say we have been fairly healthy and not to many kids have missed daycare so far this winter)

Now onto things like snow!

We hadn't painted with cookie cutters in awhile so I got the snowflake and snowman cookie cutters out and some paint and let the kids get busy!!

After we got done painting with snowman and snowflake cookie cutters I had a surprise waiting upstairs for the kids!

BUCKETS FULL OF SNOW!!!

The kiddos had the choice of wearing gloves or bare hands! They all went back and forth!

I had bought some spray bottles at the dollar store so the kids could spray the snow, BUT they didn't work!  DISAPPOINTMENT!  so i pulled out a bunch of syringes and we used those instead!!
they discovered quickly that the snow would melt when it got squirted with water!  AMAZING!!!
AAAHHHHHH he was NOT a fan!!!!!
and this young man was OBSESSED with making yellow snow! :)
which reminded everyone through giggles why we don't eat the yellow snow!

Happy Monday!!!

I went to an amazing training this weekend which a majority of it was about movement and music so I hoping (if brave enough) to share a video clip or 2 of some new games/songs I learned!!

on this blog I mainly only share the "projects/crafts" so hopefully I can start sharing a little more!!
