Pete the Cat!

not a fan of cats
but I am a fan of
Pete the Cat books!
A must read!
I am also super excited to go to a training next weekend and hear
the author of Pete the Cat speak!!!
Today we read
Pete the Cat
I love my white shoes
GREAT BOOK!!!

We then made our own colorful foot prints!
While singing I love my  ____ shoes!

We had 3 stations
-the paint station
the paint hasn't been set out yet (no one is to be trusted)

-the walking station

-the foot washing station

The kiddos LOVED this activity!

standing in a warm bucket of bubbles is also super fun!!

it was a little tricky to walk with slippery feet, but thankfully no one fell!

it was a little extra work but the giggles, the singing, was well worth it!
and I love when on their own they say things like
"hey we are like Pete!
or "look at my red shoes!"
and, "can we do it again!"
also, "pete had colorful shoes and we are also pretending to have colorful shoes!"

-parents, your kids feet may need a bath tonight!-

whoo, whoo, whoo!!

I felt like we hadn't painted for awhile...
I have been a tad lazy...
today we painted with brown...
i think the kids thought...BORING...
but painting is NEVER boring...
We got busy...
and then SURPRISE...
we painted our feet...
you see feet painting over here is fun, funny, and makes me happy...
cold paint, a brush that tickles, wet rag...
the squeals, the giggles, the pulling away but wanting me to pull back...
little kids learning self-help skills...
taking socks off...
putting socks on...
painting is messy, but by the end of the day everyone is happy...
I didn't take pics of the process because again just a tad lazy...
so here is the after...
easy, fun, cute..

what do you love about painting?

Halloween Crafts

First off I have to say that I honestly don't care that much for Halloween, but I do try to do a few crafts with the kiddos that are Halloweenish...  I always try to keep things simple but yet fun for the kiddos!  Hope you enjoy and are able to take a few of the ideas and use them with your children!

This first one isn't really "Halloween" but the kids thought it was because of the colors we used.

Pretty easy to do...black paper, white and orange paint and a couple balls and let the kids have fun!  I usually use an old pizza box but didn't have any so I did have to supervise a little more because I didn't want flying balls!
The next one is simple and the kids loved it because they are hanging from ribbions dangling above our heads..ewwwwwww!! :)
Trace the kids hands and cut it out including the thumb.  Glue one hand over the other and add some eyes!  The kids loved picking our their own eyes!  We have a whole house full of different colored eyes!
Our spiders hanging from their webs!  The babies love these!  espeically when they move (aka when I blow on them)
Finally we did this little number today! It was a favorite of the kids and they did turn out pretty cute!
I wish I had someone here to take photos of the babies when i did this because it was priceless!  oh well someday I will be able to hire a photographer to follow the daycare kids around and take pics :)
What are some things you do during this time of the year??
