The plan today was to make Ooobleck to go along with

 

But i didn't have any cornstratch...THE HORROR!!

BUT...

i did FINALLY buy some Borax

and I found this super easy FLUBBER recipie from

GREAT BOOK!

(i picked it up at a training a couple years ago!)

What you need:

mix 2 cups of water with 4 tablespoons of Borax in one bowl

in another bowl mix 1 1/2  cups of White glue with 2 cups of warm water and food coloring if you want it colored!

SLOWLY...OH SO VERY SLOWLY add the borax mixture into the glue mixture...slowly and a little at at time.  if you pour to quickly or to much it will harden! :( then you will have wasted a LOT of glue!

Mix with your hands as you add the borax mixture and you will feel it all come together to make a nice flubber mixture!

You won't need all the borax mixture and not all the glue water mixture will be used as well but once you got a nice chunck of flubber pull it out and discard everything else!

Then give it to the kids and them have a ball!!

I added some CLEAR glue to the left over mixtures I had...BAD idea!

At first I was like oh CLEAR glue this is awesome!

Then as the kids played with it, it crumbled and broke apart everywhere!

AWFUL!!!

Sooooo...just throw the mixtures away don't try to add more things!

 this is NOT a girl but a very cute boy dressed as a girl for crazy wacky goofy day :)

HE WAS OBSESSED with the flubber!!  and for being 18months old he stay focused and busy for over 45mins!  I actaully had to pry it away from his clenched fists because it was time for lunch!

If flubber is stored in a airtight ziploc bag it should last for at least a week or two!!

we will be playing with this stuff till it no longer is flubbery!

so to all you moms, dads, preschool teachers, and grandparents, and of course my dear favorites -- home daycare providers go to the laundry isle buy some Borax, pick up a case of glue and make some flubber!!!! 

(the kids called it slime but in the book, its called Flubber)

you will NOT regret this!!!

Next week we will be making SLIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The kiddos dressed up Crazy/Wacky/Goofy Today!

We had girls dressed as boys, and boys dressed as girls

bathing suits, shorts 5 sizes to big, pajamas

and some fancy skirts!

We read a few Dr. Suess books,

our favorite was The Foot Book

We counted our feet to see how many we had,

we then counted ALL the feet in the house by ones, and then by twos!

It was fun guessing to see how many feet were in the house...

no one guessed 20 feet which was the correct number!

After doing some foot math we made some Dr Suess Hats!

I let the kiddos decide their own colored strips instead of sticking to the normal red and white dr suess striped hat!

 I had the older girls cut out their stripes!

i precut the younger kiddos stripes and let them do the gluing and the sticking

here are the different "patterns" that were made!"

and our finished product!!!

one fish, two fish...

It has been awhile since I last blogged.

This cold that my family got

has KNOCKED us out!!

The hubby didn't move for 48 hours

Then my daughter and I took a turn of about 36 hours...

Today I am open but the nose is on a constant drip

The ears are ringing!

(today a little girl said "My birthday isn't very far away!"  I heard "The birds are very far away!")

and the throat is scratchy!

But....

Dr. Suess MUST be celebrated!!

Today we read a couple Suess books

and then we made our own fish bowl!

What you will need:

-corn syrup

-blue food coloring

-paint brushes

-1 paper plate per child

- fish cut outs

-finger paint

-cling wrap

I had seen a few ideas for one fish two fish and took them all to make my own!

I saw one fish bowl off of pinterest where the top of the paper plate was cut off flipped and used as the base of the fish bowl!  GENIUS!!

another pinterest idea was using corn syrup to paint "the water"

this was a small challenge since it was a little difficult to spread the thick sticky stuff around!!

obviously we can't have an empty fish bowl so fish needed to be added!

Finally cover the fish bowl in cling wrap because you see

CORN SYRUP NEVER DRIES!

--well it probablly does but takes way to long so thats why we cling wraped ours!--

This was our day of one fish, two fish!

There are soooo many ideas out there to celebrate Dr. Suess, wish I had time to do them all!!
