Melting Crayons

I have had the same two pieces of artwork hanging in the daycare since I have started.  They are nothing exciting just pictures of children so thats why we put them in the daycare because my mom and I felt like we needed something hanging on the walls and there they hung for three years! 
Then I discovered pinterest and found this piece of artwork I had to make!  So here it is!  Hope you enjoy it and if you have a space that needs a small piece of colorful artwork this is very simple to do!

we went with the rainbow look!

then we started the blow dryer and crayon wax went everywhere!

(i was warned but didn't listen)

We got out barriers so that the wax wouldn't go everywhere!

Almost done...

FINISHED PRODUCT!! 

The process took about 26 mins...3 children NEVER moved the whole watching the wax "race" down the canvas, the other children came back and forth checking out the process!  It was fun and exciting!

And now we have a new piece of artwork hanging on our wall!  I have special plans for the other piece of canvas I bought so make sure you come back and check it out next week! (hopefully!)

A Story + Art = A Great Start

Today I am linking up with A Mommy's Adventures for a Story + Art = A Great Start!

Its such a fun idea and I enjoy bringing literacy itno our art projects!

Today we read:

This book is a favorite of my boys and since all the girls were gone this morning I thought it would be the perfect day to do this!

After reading the story the boys and I gathered up our favorite trucks, some paint, and paper and headed to the kitchen to get to work!

And here is what we did!

We drove out trucks through the mud/paint and made tracks on the paper!  The boys LOVED this project!  I wish I would have recorded instead of took pictures because all you heard for a good 10 minutes was VROOOOMMMM!! 

In this next photo you see that the boys took a smaller truck and pushed the bigger truck through the paint just like the story!

I love that they took what they heard in the story and used it in their project!

Lots of vocab was used in this project like, Big, Small, Fast, Slow, Up, Down, Back, Forth, Push, and Stuck. 

We also talked about the different colors of paint, and the different types of trucks we were using! 

The kiddos love to paint and if you have been reading my blog you will know we very rarely paint with actual paint brushes, because using the toys that we play with to paint with is way more fun!

The tools to paint with are endless don't think you need paint brushes to make beautiful art work!!

Out the Door, Dinosaur!

SUPER HERO

What child doesn't want to be a super hero, especially boys?  If you have boys or girls you have a great desire to be a super hero or if you just need a reason to cut up old tshirts and give your kids something to do to occupy themselves for a few minutes than this is the project for you!  It literally takes minutes to make!  All you need is a T-shirt and a scissors!

and there you have your Superhero cap! 

these photos are VERY old but couldn't find any recent photos of the children wearing them now!  But these pictures brought back so many great memories of these precious kiddos!!

The boys wear them the most but every now and then the girls throw them on as well! 

They are worth the 5 mins that it takes to make!  I would also recommend if you have 1 or 2 kids to let them personalize them!  Having a daycare its better for me to just have a dozen and let the kids pick and choose the color they want for their specific mood that day!

Also its very important when the kids are wearing their capes to shout things like:

"To infinity and beyond!"

"Look, there's the bat signal!"

"This looks like a job for Superman!"

"Shazam!"

"Here I come to save the day!"

and

"Up, up, and away!"

I
